has anyone converted their 39mm front end to the 06 newer 49mm front end.
trying to decifer wether I would rather do this or go for a accutronix wide glide conversion kit.
I have not done it but there is absolutely no reason why it can not be done. I have completed a duel disk caliper (brembos) on a stock 2006 49 mm Mid Glide on member Jay Risk's bike. I am waiting for Harley to send me the lower bushings so I can put the front end together. I own a 2005 LR and there is no difference in the mounting of the front end with the exception of the steering lock (you would loose that function). The overall measurement is not changed with the conversion at all.
In conclusion I see why there would be no problem putting the 06 front end on my 05 lowrider. I have close up information as I did both jobs myself.
This is one of my inverted front forks on my 05 LR
