Definitely check out the Buddy from Genuine Scooters (if there's a dealer near you). Very highly rated. I would recommend you go higher than 50cc if at all possible. Even a 125cc will keep up with most traffic conditions, and has some reserve power to get you away from trouble. 50cc scoots often have trouble maintaining speed up hills.
My g/fhas a 250cc Vespa and it is real fun (the best is when oncoming Harley riders start to wave, then pull it back when they realize it's a scooter
