Default FB is not my VTX

Well I worried and fretted about giving up (trading in for a loss) my VTX 1300 - Honda for the new FB.&nbsp\\; Hadn't ridden for 20 years and after 8 months on my VTX 1300 I felt I should try the HD experience.&nbsp\\; MY VTX was pure joy.&nbsp\\; Fast enough, nimble and solid enough, just a great bike.&nbsp\\; But, I wanted to see what the deal was with HD and the FB was a style I was drawn to.&nbsp\\; Did my research here and elsewhere and sounded like the "rider’s bike" was possibly for me.&nbsp\\; I was worried about the power, handling, and so called twisty potential, but it seemed like some engine work might fix me up.&nbsp\\; So with a little engine work (103, cam type stuff) and hoping that all the comments here could be trusted ("don't worry, you will love the FB more than the VTX, blah, blah, blah), I figured I’d go for it.&nbsp\\; Well 300 hundred miles down the road and "ARE YOU KIDDING ME", this bike is everything I was hoping for.&nbsp\\; Traded in the VTX, lost money, wrote check, financed more money and there you have it\\; nothing but **** eatin grins and smiles from me.&nbsp\\; This thing pulls hard when you want it to, glides around turns, eats up the groves in the street/hwy, etc.&nbsp\\; All I can say is there is no comparison between the two bikes.&nbsp\\; The VTX is still a great bike for the money, but my new FB is what I needed.&nbsp\\; Thanks for all the responses and insight.&nbsp\\; After the 500 miles I will really try it out (BS I can't go slow, the bike won't let me), but what a dream.&nbsp\\; I will get to posting some pictures some day, but for now I will just continue to ride.

the problem i have with the honda is all the tawdry attempts to copy the detailing of a Harley, in fact since i can remember the flawed efforts to copy HD have always irritated me, even when i was racing jap stuff and deeply involved with them,,&nbsp\\; glad youve got on a Dyna[8D]

I'm right there with you. The Japanese make good products, but they have no qualms about ripping off the ideas/styling of others-which irritates me (and like you say, always has). "Flawed attempts" is exactly right when it comes to copying the Harley style and feel. They may perform as well or better on paper and they may be a bargain, but to the eye and the seat of the pants the imitation falls way short.

I'm on my third HD now and loving it.&nbsp\\; A while back I had a bad 'down' and bought a couple of confidence builders and this time around went from a Honda CB1300F to a Street Bob.&nbsp\\; I know just how you feel - its like coming home to your favorite comfy couch - just feels so right.&nbsp\\;

&nbsp\\;
You mentioned that in an earlier thread and you were right.&nbsp\\; The thing will actually&nbsp\\;try to lunge out from underneath you if you shift and twist the throttle to hard.&nbsp\\; I have the stage I BB, 204 cam and V&amp\\;H BSSs (vs. your stage II and 255) and at least at my dealer\\; that is about as far as I can go and keep the warranty and hopefully avoid more than average repairs/maintenance (no possibility of becoming a wrench here).&nbsp\\; I am a happy camper.&nbsp\\; No dyno chart yet, but I think its 94 HP and 104 ft lbs trq.&nbsp\\;

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. But like the song goes "Ain't nothing like the real thing baby". Welcome to the family!
