That one only fits 06 and later 03 different frame I think the wide glide one will hit the fender like super01 said

My bad, I put down the wrong number. 49010-93 (the FXDWG one) also says it works on the FXDX (and convertible) which is just a taller FXD. Maybe the higher forks prevent the contact mentioned above????
Thanks. Looks like you made them work. Would a moustache bar and highway pegs be a better solution?

BTW - great Rush reference in your signature line. The other great line from that tune is "if you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice".
It works but I have the a dent in the fender from it. The difference is the way the bar mounts to the frame in the center from the mid-control engine guard, the one for forward controls sticks out farther. I have highway pegs mounted on the engine guard so I just try to take it easy on large bumps. [:@] I will probably put longer tubes on it or lower the fender closer to the tire to eliminate the problem.
Mustache bar would just give you a place to rest your feet, not sure how they attach, but I would guess it's the same location.
Gotta love Rush, saw them in concert last year and they put on a great show as always.  \\; \\; \\; \\; \\; \\;&n bsp\\;
Thanks for the tip - I have my homework cut out for me. Half the draw for me is that it would provide a nice place for highway pegs - and I don't mind the looks. Not sure why some folks think they are ugly - but to each his own. That's the beauty of owning a Harley!

I'm a drummer, so Peart is \\; - well you know. I have seen them 7 times (going back to 1981) and have never been disappointed.
Just thought that replacing a $200 engine guard was better than replacing a tank or worse. I really haven't made up my mind though.
Smart thinking there, Kerry. \\; All it takes is one idiot parking too close or not paying attention to cost you hundreds of dollars in tip-over repair costs. \\; I narrowly avoided a panicked rider who crossed over in front of me while stopping to avoid two other crashed riders in front of her. \\; I clipped her rear tire with my engine guard and it bent and sheared off the top mounting bolt. \\; I can't imagine how much it would have cost me if the engine guard were not there.
Does it detract from the look of my Wide Glide? \\; Absolutely. \\; Is it worth it? Absolutely. \\; Like a helmet it ain't cool, but I like the protection it offers.
Thanks Scott. And a sincere "Thank You" for your service to our country. We would be just another blip on the radar screen of history if it weren't for the sacrfice of those who have fought for our security.

I don't know how tall you are but when you put the highway pegs on it could be a stretch to reach them. I'm 6'1" and have my highway pegs setup at an angle so I can rest the bottom of my foot on the foot peg and rest the top on the highway peg, it's really comfortable. I don't think I would own a bike without an engine guard, it saved my butt when I hit a deer almost 2 years ago. Put a hole in the side of the deer where it hit the highway peg with my foot resting on it while do 60 mph, never went down but messed up my foot. \\; \\; \\; \\; \\;  \\; \\; \\; \\; \\; \\; \\ ; \\; \\; \\; \\; \\; \\;& nbsp\\; \\; I have seen Rush 5 times since 1984, there' not a better band around.
