Today I get another installment of my continuing saga of what a piece of crap my 06 FDXLI is (I can elaborate if you wish). All I wanted is a little more sound, and I find out that I have to buy an after market exhaust system and remap the ECU. I have other vices, and I don't have the time to learn the electronics or the desire to put that much money into an exhuast system. Does anyone know of an easy way to get a little more sound? Am I stuck with the HD slip ons in the catalog and do they work (I really don't trust HD anymore). What if I bore the baffles?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
PS: Does anybody know right off who I can write to at the factory to complain about this?
Dude: If you want to complain about your exhaust sound and the re-mapping of your ECM then call your Congressman not the MoCo. Your elected officials you pay everytime you get a paycheck are the ones who pass the EPA regs that legally force the MoCo to put all the lean out crap on everything they make. BTW while your breathing fire on your local elected ahole make certain you complain about your car as well because all the auto companies as stuck with the same crap. JMHO[sm=rant.gif]
Looks like you should of done your homework prior to purchasing you piece of crap. I don't think punching out your baffles will solve your issue, as there is an Oxygen Sensor installed inside your exhaust system, which may cause an issue with how your piece of crap runs.
In order to make your piece of crap have what you desire, you are going to have to drop some coin to make it happen. For every action there is a consequence. Do the right thing and get it done right, you will be much happier with your piece of crap in the long run.
It is not my intention to sound harsh, just to spell out the facts. Everyone I know who has purchased a Harley has paid the obligatory Harley Tax - pipes and all that goes along with them

I don't share your negativity; I pick up my bike tomorrow, but all this stuff about no sound/ bad sound unless you do the high cost after market stuff has me down too. What I finally read in this forum, and what I plan to do is go cheap by trying punching a hole in the baffle, and/or removing the baffle (the dealer said he did it), and/or then going with big thunder.
I know I don't want to buy a Harley and not have the famous sound, but also don't want it to loud at 4 am.
All of the above things have been touted and panned in this forum, so I'll just have to try them on my own, THEN if nothing works, bite the bullet.
Can anyone recommend the big thunder? http://www.bigcitythunder.com/pages/..._dynamics.html
u should just sell your peice of crap to someone who would really appreciate it.and just move down the rode.plz no just add water bikers plz.should read before u purchased it.and by the sounds of it,did u even test ride it?or u bought out of a catalog?not to be mean but dam u drop 14-17k on a bike, u can drop 4-800 on a nice set of pipes and be happy.sorry but i dont have a tissue for u to whip your nose with.sorry for venting.but dam

No Offense intended Ele. but punching the baffles out can really make a harley sound terrible, not to mention run like shiet. If you lessen the back pressure on the exhaust without adjusting the fuel/air mix, so are headed into troubled waters. Do yourself a favor, don't take a 15K plus bike and then go cheap on it. Do the right thing!! You know you will be a happier harley owner.
I recommend Vance & Hines Long Shots for a good sound. You can buy them through Chicago HD at a 15% discount, and then find a independent harley wrench in your area to do the rest.
