I change all my oil at around 3000 miles I use HD syn. \\; When oil comes out it still looks and feels new . Am I changing it to often? \\; How many miles do you guys get on a oil change?
I believe that if you use full synthetic it is fine to do the engine at 5000 mi intervals and tranny and primary at 10000 intervals........according to my dealer anyways. (I hope he is right, as that is when I do mine)
\\;\\\\\\;IMHO.........Synthic oil is good way past 5,000 miles. I intend to have mine changed at the 5,000 mile checkup, that means it will have 4,000 miles on it. In my cars I run Mobil 1 synthic to between 6,000 and 7,000 miles. A friend of mine goes past 10,000 between oil changes with synthic and has done it for years. This 2/3,000 mile stuff was back in the 60's.......technology has improved the engines, oils, and all associated parts.

I didn't realize youa re supposed to change the oil on bikes like cars... \\; I change mine about every 3000 or so. \\; I hear that Harley says it only needs to be done every 5000 but I err on the side of caution.
I've heard 3,000 and I've heard 5,000. \\; If you change your own it's a heck-of-a-lot cheaper and you'll avoid the hassles of dropping it off and picking it up from the Stealership. Depends on you wallet and comfort level I guess.
