I'm not impressed with the non HD 412's. they ride kinda stiff and my girl sez the bumps hurt allot more. we weigh about 300 together and the best ride seems to be on the third setting.&nbsp\\;wish I'd have spent the extra $$ and got the 430 or 440's.

I'm 185 and put on the 412 HD's in 11" (with Progressive springs up front and leveled the bike) wanted great, firm handling and didn't want to worry about bottoming out with it being lowered. I ride solo exclusively (for now anyway, and didn't want to redo shocks if i ever go two up). I wanted that firm ride (others may call it harsh), and you do feel every bump, but with a good seat it doesn't bother me. The improvement in the handling is simply awesome, really hunkered down in the curves, and I tend to prize that more than a comfy, soft ride as most of my miles are on back road twisties. Always put HD shocks on all my vehicles in any case. Out on the highways I don't think it matters much, just watch out for pot holes or you can get air born off the seat in short order - don't ask how I know!
