Steering twitch?
Steering twitch?
Hey guys I have about 8000 miles on my 07 Street Bob and it has developed a steering twitch. I feel some softness in the back end, like the rear end slides a little while riding. Also, sometimes the front steering either feels stiff or seems to twitch to one side or another. I suspect part of the problem is the original tires the back one especially has developed a pronounced flat spot and last semester in my motorcycle service tech class, one of the guys said the rear tire had some feathering.
So I ordered two new tires and a wide tire kit so I could go to the 180 mm tire while I was at it. I plan to put the tires on myself with the lab assistant at school I could use more practice with the tire changing machine. I thought I also might check the fall away on the steering head bearing.
I also had it configured for two up when my wife and I took an overnight ride a week or so ago tire pressure up and shocks at the tightest setting scaling that back to solo mode would also help I think.
Just curious if you guys have any other ideas?
