Thinking of adding a cam to my 08 SB. I intend to leave it at 96" (for now) and already have the hiflo AC, Rush exhaust and stage 1 ECM flash....just want to get the most out of the engine. I'll be adding a SERT at the same time. My inclination is to stick with the SE cams due to warranty concerns (dealer will warranty the bike as long as they do the work and its a SE). Anyway I'm interested if anyone has cammed their 08 without going to the 103" and if so what cam did you choose and why?
I would suggest S.E. 211 cams because they are great torque producers and are not wild enough to make your bike undependable. They pull hard throughout the rpm range. They are also good with stock heads.
if the 96 is all you want there are a few cams that will give you a good bang for the buck.
I would not use any SE cam if you could get away with it. if I had to choose one, it would be the 204 cam, best low and mid range of the bunch.
but, in all honestness I would do the HQ TC 500 or the Woods 6 with a +2 or +4 advance key. both of these chocies offer broad power and can work with a mild 103 if you decide later to go bigger.
