I have a set of screamin eagle slip ons on my 09 Street Bob, I have bent one of the spoon tabs down in one pipe still tring to get the other one to budge, But my question is do I need to remap or anything after doing this? Dont want to hurt my engine and I heard the big twins run lean from the showroom floor?
nope man you are good... when i did mine a while back i used a round bar slammed it in there , then went up in size on the bar... feels weird doing it but it works... the longer the bar the better the leverage... be sure to have 2 people though one to hold the pipe the other the bar, if not you risk bending the whole pipe or the clamps on the slip on
My Dumb A$$ tried to bend them down with the pipes on the bike I figured it was a lot easier then this. I got a good quarter size hole in one pipe but couldn't get the other to budge. Then I tried to take the baffles out, took out the tamper proof torques and still could not get the darn things out tried a bar and starting the bike and warming it up and some channel locks to pull on them, So I quit, hopefully the one having slightly more flow then the other is not harmful. Soon as I can afford it I am going to have my mech install some BCT baffels and be done with it. I am tired of turning wrenches on my brand spaking new bike and not getting anywhere, plus I feel like I am hurting it specialy when I have a bar up my pipe slamming on it as hard as I can with a hammer I am so lucky I didnt bend or brake something like the header. Thank God

run the bike for a while man... get those pipes nice and hot... it will bend down like butter
Took your advice and rode to JP Cycles and back "20min there and 20min back" Then slid that bar up the pipe and smacked it twice and bent like butter
The bar I used was the handle for my jack, it bent the top of the tabs down so it looks like a spoon with a 50cent piece whole in the top of it, the bike sounds at least 2times louder then it did and it is getting louder the more I ride it as the packing starts to burn out since the pipes are brand new. Thanks For The Help
wow, that's quite a bit of difference, I was thinking of changing mine to
vance and hines slip ons, but if you gained that much without any
troubles with performance, i will try that too. I plan on getting the
screamin eagle air cleaner and remap someday and I think if I'm going to
bend them, I should do it before the remap is done.
