Question Front signal relocation - 08 Superglide

Has anyone out there done this. If so is there a way around removing the gas tank?

I just did it on my '02 Wide Glide. In my case, removing the tank was a pointless waste of time - I still couldn't access any type of connectors for the turn signal wires.

no need to remove but your gonna want to unbolt and slide it back some for complete access to the wiring.

I did,nt remove the tank, although i did loosen the rear fixing bolt and remove the front bolt. This allowed the tank to be lifted ( as far as the crossover pipe would allow) to give access to the plastic cover underside of frame towards the headstock, this is where the relevant wires live. The wires are packed in to the space but it can be done with little issues.

What's the big deal about removing the tank?

I did mine while the tank was off after adding a 2" tank lift. It all looks great. Oh, and I tunnelled my bars while at it.

Couldn't you just cut the wires near the turn signals, reroute them and then solder and shrink wrap them together again ?

Yes, you can. But cut them near the frame, then you can stuff the splices back in the hole in the frame.
By the way, if you're going to raise or slide the tank back, disconnect the gas line at the tank first. If you don't, you'll break the line at the throttle body end.

I relocated mine without removing the tank. Just got my fingers up in there and pulled the plastic cover off. There's two latches that I was able to release with a screwdriver. Not really too hard.

Default Front turn signal relocation - 08 Superglide

Thanks for all the feedback. I appreciate all of your help. Looks like I can just slide the tank back and access the wiring. No big deal on removing the tank other than it always gets messy.

Thanks to everyone
