Yeah talk with them, there's a problem. Before owning my Harley I had a Honda VTX 1800. (Yeah I know ... no flame please ... I ride a Harley now! ) The bike weighted over 800 lbs loaded and had power up the butt but was a total gas hog. And it got much better mileage than what you're getting. One of the many plusses of Harley ownership is good gas mileage, and you're not getting it ... get it checked out and if the dealer won't help you find another dealer. My last tank full on my Fat Bob was good for 225 miles! I had 185 miles on it before I even bothered hitting the pumps! ........ Good luck!

When my bike was STOCK: 30-32MPG

After Thunder Max & Big Sucker & Rush Slip-ons: 30MPG (street and highway)

I've seen these posts before and NOBODY ever has ANY suggestions on WHAT to CHECK?

Anybody know what would cause this ?

I get the same crappy milage.... would love to just get it to a reasonable level
like 36-38mpg.... I understand if I want great gas milage then I should buy a scooter,
but my gas milage should be close to other similar bikes, there should not be a 10+ mpg
difference on the SAME Year bike....

40 highway, 30 city, and I know that is low. I suspect I have an exhaust leak, but can't seem to pinpoint it. If you are even lower than that you gotta wonder why. Have you checked your plugs to see if they show "rich"?

Did they give you a copy of your dyno sheet. That should tell you the story.

When I first installed my PC III preloaded from fuel-moto,the mileage was terrible but it ran good. After a dyno-tune I was back to 35 mpg or better around town and 40 to 45, sometimes 50, on the road. Believe he tuned it to a 13 to 1 air fuel ratio, nice and level across the board. I'm running the SE intake with the old off-road SE II pipes with BCT baffles and I run it pretty hard.

Good Luck

Tom

If you've already had it dialed-in, then the air / fuel ratio is probably right where it needs to be for max performance. If there are no signs that you're running rich (look at the visible portion of the output of your exhaust pipe. A sooty-looking, dark black means probably rich, copperish to medium-brown is about right.) A "tuned" motor is going to get less mileage becuase tuners usually optimize for performance, not for economy. These bikes run lean from the factory (better MPG, less emissions). Tuners richen 'em up to get every bit of torque & power possible (more emissions, less MPG.

That makes sense ... so the more you tweak your bike for performance the worse mileage you will get! Hmmmm interesting. I'm happy with my performance AND mileage. Think I'll keep it set up just the way it is!!! Thanks for the insight!
