Any of you guys use the motorcycle dolly from Harbor Freight with your Dynas? If so, am I correct in assuming that you'd also need to use the lift adapters on the dolly as well as the lift (meaning a second set of adapters would be needed). If anyone is using it...how well does it work? I'm looking for something to allow me to store the bike for the winter and keep it up off the tires and also at the same time i'm hoping to tear apart the front end to powder coat and this would give me a good platform to work off of.
I have the dolly and it works great. I am able to push my bike up close against the garage wall, letting me pull my car in the garage. The dolly only makes it easier to move around, does not lift or keep the tires off the ground.
I have the inexpensive (yellow) one, and it works great! I get both wheels off of the ground and it is OK to work on. For long term or to move it around I would strap it to it.
I saw a harbor freight lift this weekend and looked much better than the one I got from Shucks. the safety catch lever mechanism is much better than mine. the one thing I don't like about the harbor one was the foot pump lever is to close to the release lever and its easy to push the release while operating the pump. It worked great lifting the Dyna I just got just had to be careful where to position the pads. Dropping the oil may be more of hassle since the lift covers that area.
I think you guys may have misunderstood my question. By dolly I meant the thing that you use your jack to lift the bike up and then slide the dolly under the bike (and thus not needing the jack). Here is the link for what i was referring to
I use them all of the time but you are going to need to have a cherry picker to pick up your bike to set it on. HF has a collapsible one (cherry picker) which you can always buy on sale for $150. a very good tool I use all of the time. Please check this dolly out on one of my DIY pages here. In this case I need to lift the bike up higher on my tble for needed working clearance. In this and many other cases these really pay for themselves. $35 is no money
