I would not feel good about it *until* I took it by a mechanic I trusted and let them look it over. That certainly does not guarantee nothing is wrong with the bike, but I figure they would know what to look and listen for better than I would. Either way buying a used bike is a crap shoot, you really never know what someone has done to it.

I don't think I'd have a problem if you can ride it and everything seems fine.

These motors are not technical marvels and pretty basic in design. I haven't worked on it, but have done other 4-stroke motors and don't think I'd be too scared to open this one up.

If he can work on Toyota's, he should be able to work on the bike...it's not too complex.

Ride it and if you like it, buy it!

Agreed! Actually, a car mechanic is probably every bit as good as an HD tech at some stealership and from my experiences, I'd say the car mechanic is probably better! If you've been wrenching professionally for a long time, you're probably pretty smart enough to figure out a bike motor! I have a buddy who wrenches for a living with his own shop, been successful for many years and wrenches on his own plane! Been in that plane MANY times!

The bike did look sharp, If you rode up on your bike maybe the seller would let you do a test ride, maybe. My own concern is this , could you afford the repair bill for some of the high dollar mods?

One question I have is about the compression quote of 9.1:1. Is that a large or small increase over the stock 8.9:1? I know nothing about compression ratios. I see he put on a 2KW starter. Stock I believe is 1.2KW.
