I've been through this exact scenario on my old sporty - totally feel your pain......I eventually gave up and went to option #6 (not discussed previously) - Rode the beotch to the stealer and had them do it and replace the friggin torx pieces of **** with chrome allens while they were at it.....cost a few $$$ but the savings in stress and frustration was well worth it. Once the allens were in there it was never a problem after that. Torx just suck and have no redeeming qualitites whatsoever.
