I'm sure you could have the new ignition keyed the same as your current ignition/fork lock. Mine is not, I just bought the new switch on Ebay and installed it. My fork lock never did work too well anyhow and left me stranded once when it seized up.
As far as installation, it's a 2-3 hour job depending on the tools you own. Hardest part is getting the wiring plug off the stock switch.
Sammi, that sounds like an awesome idea..I just got an 06 low...not as nice as yours as I need bags, sissy, seat and bags....plus forwards and crash bar...I would sure appreciate some feedback on type of bags, and seat you got...and any more photos of your ride.
Anyways, the 06 key is crazy...keeps falling out! I would love to do a change as well.
thanks for all feedback.

Thanks for the compliments on the bike.
Can't take credit for the ignition move to the console - saw it posted here a long while ago and couldn't find the thread.
Bags are HD non-detachable, and seat is Sundowner Deep Bucket.

BTW, I'm pretty damn tired of the damn key falling out too!!!
It would be nice if they made a differant dash for the lowrider so you could put the ignition switch on the dash. I thought about trying to add onto the original one but its cast so I don't think you can weld to it
Ok, I'll ask the dumb question. How are you going to mount it to he console? I mean, I understand with the other models only having the speedo in the console, but with both tach and speedo, there's no room. Is there? I'd like to see this.
there is no room.
need to buy a SB console and cut a hole or
buy a FXDSE2 console (pricey - but has a hole for the switch)
either way - the tach has to go.
i don't believe there is any HD model that has separate speedo and tach and ignition switch all on the same console?

There's over 9" of space between the bottom of the tach to the end of the chrome console, and it's about 3" wide.
I've seen pics posted here and there is plenty of room.
The thing is I'm about as handy as Helen Keller with a power tool so I'd have an Indy do it if I could use the same key for the ignition and fork locks, and if the price was right.

Ok, that part is correct. But, the console in that area is only about 1/4-3/8" deep. You're going to need at least an 1" or better to accomodate a switch and wiring, maybe a bit more.
