Well, I went in and looked at all the Dyna models today. Thunderstorms, tornadoes, blinding rain...so no rides. Here's my impressions:
1. Street Bob: I was very surprised that I actually liked the riding position of those mini ape bars.
2. Fat Bob: Likewise, I was surprised that the riding position with those drag bars is quite good.
3. FXD: Comes the closest to matching the "feel" and position of the bars on my Sporty, which I really like. The stock seat SUCKS. It was by far the most uncomfortable seat of any of the stock Dyna seats I sat on.
4. FXDC: A really great looking bike with all that chrome. Just not for me.
5. All Dynas: I absolutely have to have forward controls. Period.
Bottom line: It looks like come Dec 26 I'll be riding out of the showroom on a vivid black Super Glide. They were able to come so close to my "leave it" price with all the accessories* I wanted that i can't pass this up. This would no doubt be the only time I could ever get full MSRP for trading in my Sportster.
*I'm going to install the forward controls myself. I really wanted to be able to ride out the door and not have to put a wrench on this thing to get it like I want it (something I didn't do with my Sporty.) However, they absolutely refused to install the forwards without removing the primary. I think it's ridiculous to crack the cases on a brand new engine just to install different foot pegs and controls. So I'll put 'em on myself and order the Kuryakyn clip and cover to secure and conceal the existing shifter that goes through the primary cover.

I thought so, too, at first. Did you ride it, or just sit on it? Just sitting on it doesn't give the same feeling as actually riding it. I find the stock seat quite comfortable, although I've only put 250 miles on mine so far and the longest ride's been about an hour.
Then again, everyone's *** is different. My wife thinks her XL1200L seat is fine, I can't take it for more than 10 minutes.
Gary, Congrats on the new bike and great deal! As a 1200C rider for 9 years with a little over a year on my FXDC, you definitely won't regret it. Welcome to the Dyna family!
be ready to ride with a big smile on your face. and trust me it dont go away you will love it.i love mine so much that last summer i had a great offer to move up and i thought about it. but in the end that is all i did when in doubt take your super glide for a ride. and you will understand there is no bike like'em.
All it takes is one, out in the middle of nowhere, in the middle of the night.
Thats why I'm thankful I kept the cast wheels, and keep a plug kit and small compressor on the bike everywhere I go. Once you've been there, you'll know.
Gary7, as far as the stock FXD seat, after 24000 miles, mine's still on there. It's only uncomfortable when I'm sitting still
If you have to trade the sporty then I guess it is a good deal. I kept mine and in the words of a hero, "my cold dead hands" before I part with it. Bought my 03 Lowrider a couple of months ago and love it. Sporty will be for day to day, FXDL for longgggg rides, but you will miss the sporty. But enjoy it either way. Just make sure they don't inflate the price because of the good trade.

This dealer is a straight shooter. He hardly ever discounts, but he never charges more than MSRP either. Even when the Nightster came out and it was typical for dealers to tack on a couple grand to the MSRP, he sold 'em at MSRP.
I'd rather have spokes or a HogPro rim than anything cast...the only Dyna with cast rims is the FatBob.
I've got an '08 FXDB and love the hell out of it...it's exactly the bike I wanted, minus some changes I've gotten started on myself. My sigpic is hardly accurate anymore...I need to update it, but can't til these couple mods are done. You'll love whatever Dyna you get...can't go wrong with em.
