Everytime I see someone riding with ape hangers I have to laugh to myself
there goes someone who likes to experience motorcycle riding at its worst. I just put a set of dragbars on my low rider and now it feels like a motorcycle is supposed to feel.
And ya know, I've got to laugh at you for making such a dumb, ignorant comment. For some people, apes are a lot more comfortable. And hey, guess what.................... I happen to be one of those people. But hey, I guess I must be experiencing my motorcycle at its worst! But man, those 20,000 miles that I put on this year sure seemed fun to me.. well, what do I know, right?
To the OP: Do what you think would make you feel comfortable. A LOT of my riding has been highway riding, and I do just fine with it. I'm actually planning to go a bit bigger with my apes soon enough.

wow.....what a douche.....opinions are like azzholez everyones got one......just for your information apes are the best mod ive done to my bike.....i can ride all day at 70-80 without any problems....you must be a wuss....
I changed out to a low bar and the handling ease and higher speed ease are significant. I liked the apes(wife hates 'em) ,but, am in much more control with the bars in my sig. pic. My bars have 5" of total rise with the stock mounts(bars are 3.5") and are 28" wide.
I like the looks of both drags and apes and think what looks best depends on the rest of your set-up.
As far as comfort that is going to depend on each person. I find both to be more comfortable than the other depending on what your doing. (note never rode anything other than mini apes)

Your a dumb a**! This is why all these different types of bars are made so everybody can find whats comfortable for them. I've had both & liked both. Just takes a while to find the right height & pull back for each individual. For ME, my lower back got to me a little with my 8 in. drag bars, and my neck got to me a little with my 16 in. apes, and I finally found my sweet spot with my 13 in. drag bars!
I think apes look f'n sick on bikes! But for the set up I had in mine, I think the drag bars looked better. I know what you mean about the wobble at 70 mph. I used to get the same thing. It made me kind of nervous if I pushed it through the twisties. As far as comfort, I would say the apes were as comfortable as my drags.
To each his own!
A lot depends on the type of riding you do. If you are VERY aggressive you might wanna go with drags and risers as they tend to be more stable.
If I attempted the type of riding I do with apes I'd be in the Hospital! LOL
