Default 2006 Model Year Question

Ok, I know there were some issues with the inner primary bearing on some 06 bikes, but that is about the extent of my knowledge. Can someone give me a quick run-down.

I don't mean to be short when I suggest doing a search, but there is a ton of info on this subject.

Here are a few links.

Short: Mine went at 3900 E-Z miles. Fixed under warranty, now 10K...so far, so good.

My inner primary was replaced at 5,500 miles and has been OK since.

I received a recall notice in 2007 for something about the way the battery was secured.

Other that the inner primary issue I think that's about it.

Joe, from the title you may be asking about issues with the '06 modelyear other than inner primary bearing. Do a search on stator failure, too. The solution is worth considering as preventive maintenance. Jay

Only real issue I've had on my 06 is a failed Crank Position Sensor that left me dead in the water, can't remember the mileage, probably over thirty thousand though. Over fourty five thousand now and still rollin' on,knock on wood.

Good Luck

Tom

The battery caddy bolts can come loose, so the builettin is to remove and locktite them but i had already done that when i put on forward controls, i had to remove it to get to the starter.

If you have a later production '06 mine was Feb '06 and it has the updated injectors, i think the updated are 36 degrees if i remember right.

My inner primary bearing started making noise at 14,000 and kept getting worse and i took it in at 14,500 and it was replaced under warranty. It would make the most racket if you had been riding around town at least 30 min and then stop at a light and put it in neutral and let the clutch out it would sound like a worn out dryer.
