I don't think any of us thought it really was. The word was used to simply describe certain companies that make bikes with wide tires, expensive paint jobs (sometimes to your specs), a bigger and built engine that in this case would give him much of what he's looking for already done without all the hassle of doing it himself and then not liking it for about the same price as cutting up a Harley.
These other bikes could then be sold to someone else who likes those brands if he ended up not liking it.

guess some of us don't consider doing it ourself a ''hassle''. I thoroughly enjoy and get great satisfaction out of doing my own customizing. but I'm not really a ''Bling'' typ of guy either, so I can see how it would save time and $$ for someone who is.

i think $25,000 is too much to spend tricking out a dyna.

Since I don't see a 240-300 tire on yours or a chopped front I don't see where you have really done any "customizing". Hanging chrome doesn't count or even bars.

And before you say it, Nope I haven't done it either but I know how much work it is and for me paying for a bike that already has it is the way to go.

I see both points for XCROME and sportncruise......but for me, doing my own mods is half the fun, so I don't have to buy it with the part already on the bike to be happy. Every change I've made to my FXDB so far has been done by me. And I consider everything I've done to be "customizing", from doing my own electrical with the turn signal relocation to the painted/wrapped exhaust to installing Jackyl's 2" lift. Of course, the wife thinks I'm a little off my rocker to buy a $14,000 bike and immediately start tearing stuff off and making changes.

My rationale as to whether I'll make a change to my bike weighs heavily on whether it negatively influences performance (i.e. tire that's excessively wide)....then I'm not even going to consider it. I'd go no wider than a 200 on a Dyna...as I recall that's the absolute biggest we can go without making fender/strut alterations and forking out a lot of $$$$$$$$$ anyway. To me, a 240+ is cool on a VRSC....but it kinda misses the point with a Dyna.

Me? I'll probably just swap in a 180 when the Dunlop wears out.

Finally got to get on a bike with a 240. It was a Thunder Mountain Blackhawk 240. Very nice bike! Although it had lotsa chrome, it was very sweet looking.

But I digress...The big tire made more of a difference in handling than I thought it would. You really have to 'muscle' the bike around the corners initially. Once you a little more comfortable, you can get your lean on and get around the corners better. Was an eye-opener. And although it did disuade me from wanting to do the mod, its definately enough to make you think on it some. Wish I'd had a full day to ride that bike.
