If the dealer you talk to is cool, he might let you mock up the rack/pillion combo and let your girl try it out...that way you can be sure if she'll like it before you buy. I tried the stock Wide Glide 2up seat on my Bob and the wife knew within 15 yards of leaving the curb that it wasn't going to work.
I can always find another dealer if he isnt cool... dont mind going further for another dealer if that one is better and will give me better deal. And with the economy crisis going on these days I think all sales count. I think he will be cool :-)
Just my personal opinion. I bought my bike and couldn't wait to start buying stuff. I can't tell you how much money I pissed away, buying items i thought I wanted, later learning otherwise.
Ride the bike and learn what you want and need. Don't try and invision what you want, cause thats an expensive way of doing things.

Seats, buy used (eBay) til you decide.
good point. guess I could look at ebay and have stuff ready for when I get the bike, then install it myself.
+1 on finding used/ebay stuff. I got pass. peg mounts, pillion pad and extra pegs from guys here and adjustable highway pegs, rigid sideplates, backrest and pad all on ebay. As for the backrest sideplates, I've made my rigids removable from a thread posted here.
Went to local HD dealer today with the girlfriend. We have decided to get a new dyna... street bob.
My girlfriend noticed the lack of rear seat...and she really wants to drive with me.
So my question is do I get the rear seat, sissy, rack and passenger footpegs from HD or would you recommend another brand? mayby cheaper or better.
Should I get complete forward controls or just the forward footpegs? HD or other.
Any help would be apreciated thanks
If you plan to do mostly 2-up riding, the Street Bob probably ain't the bike you want. Don't get me wrong, you CAN.....I just personally think it is more of a solo bike.
get to know your bike and what you want. I think adding things into a loan is a bad idea. Buy the parts outright. you do know you will do 2up so quite simple get pegs and pick a seat/pillion you can afford and go from there. there is always a chance you will have to change things up a bit as you get used to the bike and the miles wear on.
should you choose to go stage 1(air cleaner, exhaust, ecm) do not skimp... buy the right stuff to get the most out of your bike.
If buying my Wide Glide wasn't such a last minute, whirlwind day I would have done the 103" BB kit at time of purchase. Definitely whatever you want and roll it into the payment. Much easier.
I can suggest a sundowner two-up seat. Comfy as hell but UGLY as well to look at. Or get the sundowner solo with p-pad. That way when your chick isn't riding with you, you can go solo and be just as comfy.
And make sure anything you change out at the dealer, you get the take-off's. You can always throw them up on ebay or HDF classifieds. Someone is always looking for cheap parts to rebuild a bike, say, after a crash.
