Question Front brake line fittings question

Hi everyone.

I'm stuck at work without my service manual and just got an email from Zanotti's. My Drag Specialties "Black Pearl" brake line purchase is on back order until mid-February. I've got the new apes installed and am just waiting on this brake line. I love Zanotti's but no way am I'm willing to wait until February to finish this install!

I'm going with the Goodridge Ebony series instead, and I'd like to order through JP cycles today.

I'm hoping for a quick answer from the group here: What size are the banjo fittings? [jpcycles.com] (both caliper and master cylinder ends) 10mm or 12mm? And the single banjo bolt, is it 7/16th or 3/8th?

I don't want to guess wrong and delay this project any more than it has been already.

Thanks in advance and Happy New Year to all! Be safe out there tonight.

Jay

dang wish I knew the #'s... how close are you to a stealer? I would just get the line from them out of the drag catalog... will cost less as shipping charges will not apply.
Also I had a 41" line and it was about 2" too short so go with 45"(unless you feel you want more length) and that should fit up right.

Thanks rounder,

It's Drag that's got the back order problem. Zanotti's called saying that Drag doesn't have it in stock, so I would expect my local dealer would have the same problem as Zanotti's. Zanotti's customer service has been awesome, by the way. I wish I could give them my business on this one, and I told them exactly that.

I suppose I'll give my dealership a call. Can't hurt to ask. In the mean time, I'm researching Goodridge cables from JPcycles. Fittings are sold separately, so that's why I need to know bolt sizes.

Your 45" was long enough? I'm kinda surprised by that. I measured my stock line with a string and came up with 53". I assume you didn't secure your line to the forks or bars and just ran it free? If so, that would explain the difference in length.

I had the same question a few months ago. Here is a link to the thread:

I have 12.5" apes on stock risers and I found a complete line from Jireh Cycles for $39. It is a black Russel replacement for an 80's era WG and FXSTC. 52" long with a 12mm or 7/16" 35deg banjo at the top end and a 10mm or 3/8" 90deg banjo at the bottom. Jireh part number is 49-227. Good luck!

I meant to get the goodridge lines from the stealer. I used a goodridge line on my brakes. I also routed the line and attached it to the trees like stock was...
one thing also... the braided kits you get from H-D have the correct sized c clamps for mounting the line. You can get the part #'s from inside one of the kits... My dealer gave me some from a kit they had in stock and ordered them to replace the ones they gave me. On my bike the 41" line was too long for the mini apes I had on there. It was just a tad short for your bars. Also I measure my brake line set up to not have a huge loop from the caliper to the mount at the base of the neck. It has plenty of length without being too long like the stock ones they put on there. Also this measured length does not include the elbows at the end.
