I just measured my bars. They are 1". I guess I was thinking they were 1.25" because the grips feel thicker than the ones on my Sportster.

Are the stock FXDC risers aluminum or steel? I'm seeing both in the aftermarket risers and I want to stick with whatever the bike came with.

Edit: Nevermind. I just put a magnet on 'em. They're aluminum.

For you guys that have put risers on yourselves, what is involved if you do have to pull some extra wires out of the frame for a little more length? Do you have to pull the tank off, or what?

I think I'm going to got with these. They are 2.5" rise with 1.5" pullback. Stock is 2" rise with no pullback.

Don't be scared of 4 little allen bolts. Just take the top clamp off and see how high the bars will go before the cables get tight...and that's how high you can go without having to change anything other that the riser it's self.

I'm going to have to pull some slack on the wires if I go up any at all. That's what I'm asking about. What's involved in pulling the extra slack? On my Sportster, you had to pull the tank and the extra slack was under there where the wire harness was looped and held with a tie-wrap. Cut that tie-wrap and take the loop out and you instantly had an extra 3" to play with, and I needed every bit of it when I put the buckhorn pullbacks on in place of the stock bars.

Mine are Chrome.

2007 fxdc

All I had to do was pull a bit of the slack out from the hole in the side of the frame that has the rubber gasket on it.

You could always disconnect the tank mount bolt up front near the trees, prop up the tank with a small block of wood, or bunched up kitchen towel. Then find the electric line, and fish a bit more through. A bit more trouble, but easy non the less.

Cheers and Good luck.

Mine are, too: chrome plated aluminum rather than chrome plated steel.

Also, someone had posted in another thread where I asked about the spokes on the std wheels that they are stainless. Well, they aren't. Magnet sticks to 'em which means they're regular ol' chrome plated steel.
