OK. I just took the reflectors off the BOB and it left behind some sticky gunk on the rear. How do you all recommend to get the rest of the sticky gunk off??
2. The Silver/Grey strip across the batt box!! how do i get it off to paint it.
Lastly I have recently put a SE heavy Breather on my 09 Fat bob and went step by step with the directions. The Directions that were provided were for a carb i think and i have EFI. the question is if anyone else out there with a 09 Fat BoB or 08 that has put one on did you have a wire that was left over hanging from the bottom??? it was connected to the stock air box but instructions said nothing about doing anything with it once the breather was on.. so if you all had a wire too what did you do with it? thanks for your time
Sticky residue: Goof off. Some people have had success with using a hair dryer to soften it up and then simply rub off with fingers.
Battery box: Single phillips screw on the underside of the battery cover. Take the cover off by removing your seat, unscrewing the battery box cover screw, and finally pulling the cover off. Once off, you'll see inside the battery cover and you'll see how to take the silver band off.
Oh, and while you've got the goof off can out and the battery cover off, take the opportunity to remove that battery warning sticker!
Cheers,
J

Thanks a Ton goin to get that stuff off right now lol.. what kind of paint do you all recommend for that strip?? one other thing to while i am at it.. i was thinking about gettin the black rush slip ons. what kind of paint would i use to paint my current heat shield black>>> or is this possible???
You can paint your heat shields. I'm not a painter, and don't want to dispense bad advice. I've heard people have had good results from hi-temp coatings like those that are used on barbecue grills. There's a saying that goes something like "painting is 90% prep work and 10% painting". Don't expect to simply paint over chrome and have it come out looking anything close to decent. You'll probably have to scuff 'em and clean 'em before you can paint. But again, hopefully someone here with real experience and knowledge can help guide you.
Search the forums for exhaust paint. Lots of folks have done it. JRK, Special Ed, and a few others come to mind.
H-D sells wrinkle black in a spray can. Might work well for your battery band. But again, do your research on the prep work and curing process before you paint.
