Default Voltage regulator on light upgrades

Some one told me today that on HD's with security systems you need to place some kind of voltage regulator or modulator if you upgrade you lights to LED's other wise the computer will see the voltage change as a problem with the light or even completely different electrical system warnings.

Has anyone heard of this as I cannot remember hearing anyone say anything about doing this when they did LED upgrades.

Thanks

Yes... You need to install a load equalizer... Most manufacturers of LED's have them as well...

Your T/S's are controlled by the TSM/TSSM.... A certain amount of voltage must be registered for the TSSM and the ECM to communicate....

Thanks man,

Can you tell me if it must be installed once or must one be installed between each light or can it be installed once and all lights routed past it?

It plugs in between the harness and the lights.... Install the Load equalizer as per manufacturers instructions, then install your lights.....

If it is just the tail/brake light, check out the manufacturer's instructions - most specify whether or not it is designed for the TSSM.

If it is the turn signals, yes, as Bob said, you need a load equalizer.

If it is the headlights - ???????
