Default FDX Speedometer Question

Can you relocate the speedometer on the handlebars of the 2009 FDX? Also I would like to see some pictures of what others may have done to change it's look.

Welcome to the forum and the world of Harley. Please refrain from referring to your Super Glide as an "FDX". It is an FXD or FXDI. Calling it a "FDX" will identify you as someone who just traded in a Vespa on a Harley Davidson.

The FXD speedo has been an eyesore for many owners. Several have modified the brackets, some have changed tanks and moved the speedo there. I changed to a different speedo.

There are tons of posts here about this very subject. You'll get your best information by doing a search.

Here's a few links:

Here is a pic of the speedo set-up on my 06 FXDI:

Easy there, man. I traded in a Vespa for my FXD in November.

I just bought a riser and clamp from an '06 Ssportster 1200C off of eBay for $80. It has a speedometer housing built into the top clamp, however it moves it back and below the handlebars. It has the indicator lights as well.

I plan to use drag bars with slight pullback, but you are limited to 1" bars. I'm still looking for some 1" bars that are drilled for internal wiring.

This was supposed to be my winter project, however, I wrecked my work car after an ice storm here in Iowa last week, so that's pushing it back to a spring project. It's supposed to be -24 degrees actual temp. tonight with -40 wind chill. BRRRR!

Lots of different ways to go. I went with the 07 FXDSE set-up on mine, it was a little pricey but looks good and also added a tach.

I really hate the speedo on the FXD. Looks like a tumor. Haven't seen any mods yet that appeal to me though. Wish to god I could've found a WG or low rider but my bike was a really good deal and i thought I could live with the speedo. I can't. Now I'm thinking of just ripping it off altogether and taking a hammer to it.

I like what bberk did but that pricey part bothers me.

Default Dyna / sportster speedo mount

I have read many different post here and my head is spinning trying to figure out the part numbers.

I have a 2009 FXDI Dyna Super Glide with stock bars and I want to flip the speedometer. Near as I can tell I need Sportster part #'s
56074-96 and
67084-96

Can someone please confirm this, or better yet post the page from the sportster parts book that has a picture and part #'s. How hard is it to move the idiot lights to the new mount.
