Just dropped my FXD mags off at my indy to strip down and send off for chrome. He all but talked me into replacing my stock pulley with chrome cover with a solid chrome one that matches the wheels better. The best match I can find is $400 and I don't want to put that much more into it as I'm already going to have to buy chrome spacers, bolt covers, axle covers, and he talked me into polished rotors front and back. Below is a link to the one I'm looking at. Just curious if there are aftermarkets at better prices that will be a direct fit replacement? I'm not exactly familiar with the exact dimensions that I need to look for as far as fitment with regard to width, teeth, etc.
Another option I thought of would be to find someone with a stock pulley laying around that I could get cheap and have it chromed. It won't match the spoke pattern on the rims but it would be true to what HD puts on the FXD with these wheels.
I'll amend my post a bit. The HD sprocket I have the link to is not an exact match for the rims I will be using. It will probably look okay but for $400 I would want a real matching sprocket, which I don't think exists.
So, given that I have the same sprocket on my bike that comes with the FXD standard with mag wheels and I have a chrome cover for it, and therefore it's common to see that sprocket paired with the FXD rims, what would you suggest if if were you? Stay with what I have? Find or have made a fully chrome FXD sprocket? Or search for the best possible match to the wheels in chrome?
The thunderstar pulley is 5 spoke and will match your wheels better.
Manufacturer, resource, price, pic? Is it a HD pulley?
Is this what it looks like? I agree, it's better but not a match nonetheless.
Porker has the same rims on his LR that I'm getting done and looking at his pix, looks like he used the standard sprocket and either chromed it or put a cover on it and it looks pretty darn good.

Do a net search for Harley chromers. There are sevral who have an exchange program. Buy a stock pulley which has been chromed from them, pay a deposit, send them your stock pulley, get your deposit back. Probably cost you less than half the cost of a Harley chrome pulley.
To me, the cover looks fine. Not worth the extra bucks. I never even notice the flat silver uncovered side of my pulley.
Yep yours is the exact one that my indy thought would best match my wheels. But my wheels are 5 spoke with each spoke splitting into two and this is a 6 spoke pulley. Look good - yes, probably. Look $400 good against my new chromed rims - nah.
As for the thunderstar pulley, according to the P&A catalog, they don't make one for my year and model - so that's out.
I'm leaning towards staying with what I have or, at most, getting a chromed stock pulley.

I bought the pulley from Chicago HD for $287.20 but by the time I paid for the Brake rotor, chrome sprocket bolts, etc., etc,. I had 4 bills in it.
