Your a$$ starts to ache, right about under where your wallet is! I've heard that some hear nothing 'til all hell breaks loose inside the primary. You may hear some whirring noise as screws come loose or the stator shifts position and drags on the rotor. Have also read where a warning light comes on and a code is thrown. I'm hoping I get spared the experience.
Stator at 11000 miles
Complete rebuild due to oil pump failure @12000 miles.
nothing else. Due 1st oil change & dyno tune in 200 more mile. Which will be done today.
06 street bob, IPB went out at 24,000. Stator self destructed at 46,000 miles, I was out in the middle of the desert when that came apart. No warning, just all hell broke loose in the primary, engine light & battery light came on. Limped it into the town of Borrego Springs.
I am concered about the Stator problem on the 06's, ours has only 7K, 08 was a bad riding year, but the Bob was in the "last" factory shipment to Canada, in fact the 07's were being shipped in the US
I do not want to spend the money to take bike apart and find it has the upgraded Stator-----Any listers with a late manufactured bike with the Stator problem?
47500 miles on bike. currently on 8th rear tire and 3rd front tire. 2 front fenders due to cracking. 2 headlight shells due to cracking loose rivits. 3 headlamp bulbs.trans under warranty recall.change fluids and run it
Here is a quote from a road test on a brand new 2007 Dyna Lowrider by Buzz Buzzelli:
Getting back to the 2007 Dyna in this issue, its TC96 engine had that idle-shake thing (more so than the TC88), and since it was only when sitting at a stop, I didnt mind it. Once underway there was nothing to comment on or complain about ... except when decelerating. Passing through the 3,000-to-2,000 rpm range the whole bike shuddered, especially the footpegs, reminiscent of solid-mounts. Depending on what you happen to like, this could be interpreted in several ways: My God, its falling apart and I am going to die, or Wow, this feels cool and I want some more.
I thought it was just me! I've been trying to find the cause of this vibration/shudder (not buzzing) on my 3500 mile Lowrider and have just plain run out of things to check. Driving this bike at any RPM under 3000 is a horrible experience. I don't believe that 2005's and older had his problem, so it might be in the 6-speed transmission. My flywheels have NOT shifted and I've replaced the entire primary drive, all motor mounts, and aligned the engine/trans/wheels with a digital inclinometer.
