FWIW, I just went with a HD Reach seat, since the Sundowner that was on the bike when I bought it had me too high and back. I haven't taken any trips yet, as it's freezing here, but it does sit me closer to the forward controls and closer to the floor.
Yeah I'm planning on fabbing something up for heel rests at some point.
A lot on the plate for when I get home.
Hey, is the tank strap, or bib or whatever, metal or composite? I see that you swapped yours out and finished it somehow... wondering if it can be powdered?
I know people with both and personally find, while both are no long distance comfort seats, the Bare Bones seems to put me a bit too far down and back for comfort (I am 5 9) and feels like slip back a bit on throttle punches. TheSilhouette is definitely my choice of the 2 (which I am getting for around town riding, keeping stock handy for long trips). The seat does not feel a great deal different than stock other than being a bit less padded in back, but does keep me well saddled while still maintaining that low profile look that I prefer over stock by far. Plus the matching passenger pillion looks and feels OK for short trips I am told.
it is metal... i have powdered many of them... when i did my swap i powdered my old one and sold it to a member on here... looks sick when you match it to the paint or do it gloss... real clean!
I rode a Bare Bones on my FXRP for about 5 yrs, I got used to it and made several road trips in comfort, I don't know if my old *** could do it now though. I got a solo stock seat that fits the 09 Super Glide for only $118 from the dealer and I'm happy with it, sits low and has nuff padding and didn't cost much for a brand new seat.
