The A & B designations have nothing to do with engine design or balancing as some would have you believe. Recent research into the ownership of the A versus B engines has revealed why the MoCo has made the distinction between the two (see below)

"A": TC engine: Heterosexual riders who enjoy speed & real power

"B": TC engine: Non-Hetero riders who don't like all the vibration because it makes their panties wet.

j/k...

The handling characteristics will stand out more than any difference in power.

I know for some of you de-nial ain't just a river in Egypt, but a sporster has a better power/weight than the Dyna.

The rwp output difference between a dyna and a softail is negligible. So is the weight difference between the FX softails and the Dynas. The overall performance is worlds apart because the softail suspension sucks. But out of the box, straight line acceleration is within the margin of rider error. The B makes power lower down too, so if you ride the Dyna shifting at 3krpm, you're never even entering the power-band anyway. The A model really shines in it's ability to be hot-roded, and run at relatively high rpms.

Yes, I noticed that as well about black paint. I am not sure why but there is a noticeable improvement in both speed and power.
