Default dynas more power then softies?

since softails have heavy counterbalancers on there crankshafts and dynas dont, do dynas have more horsepower ? im a 1st time poster so hello.

I have always heard they have about 5 more HP but not sure if thats correct or not.

The specs listed on the HD web site show the B engines have less torque, so one could presume they have less HP, too.

"A" motors have more torque because of the lack of counterbalances. That coupled with a lighter overall weight makes them faster when both are still stock.

Yes, they have more power. They also have much more potential under modification than the Softails because they can be made to rev higher without blowing apart. If you're going to drop cash to mod the engine, but want it all "down-low" and useless, it's pretty much the same. The weight will be the bigger issue. But if you want to build a slightly higher-reving engine, then the A model is the way to go.

The "A" engine, coupled with black paint, make a Dyna significantly faster.
