Unhappy I have a question?

Has anyone had a problem with their speedo not registering correctly after using the kill switch? I seems that when I use mine it goes off around 15mph. I pull in the clutch, turn off the key and restart and it readjust correctly... Any answers?

I never use the kill switch. I just turn off the ignition. Still, you shouldn't be having any problems.

I use the kill switch to stop the engine, and then the console switch to kill power. Never had an issue...

Same here. I always use the kill switch first and then the ignition switch and I've never had a problem.

Do you have any codes set? I had a problem with mine when it was still under warranty (see photo below). I also got several codes which was pointing to every other component on the bike. I checked out everything including the wiring and found everything to be operating correctly.

I noticed that the service manual is written in such a way as if the speedometer could never fail. Well I determined it was the speedometer and brought it into the dealer and told them the above. They had the bike for two days and the service manger told me they found the problem, he said it was a wet wire, I asked if he meant a connector and he confirmed it was a wet wire . I told him the wires are insulated and they could be submerged in water and it wouldn't cause a problem, he got a dumb look on his face and suddenly had a loss for words.

He also wanted to charge me eight hours labor for diagnosing the problem (wet wire ), until I called Harley Davidson and complained, then I got a call from the dealership telling me that the bike is ready to be picked up and it was covered under warranty. Riding home, engine light came back on, codes set. Lost all confidence in the dealership and bought some Screamin Eagle gauges on line. No problems since.

So first thing would be to check your codes, that might point you in the right direction, also look into the speedometer sensor on the trany.
