But, would I get that blue CVO Dyna if I had $40k burning a hole in my pocket? Yup!
I know, I'd be tempted to buy an '09 Fat Bob Screamin' Eagle if I could justify it. . . I love the new wheels on that and it looks incredible in the flesh in the black/rose quartz paint job. . . .
But I'd have to have a half a mill in the bank to really "just do it." Donations are now being accepted.
Tried out an '07 SE Dyna today and have to say that it was sweet. The suspension was rock solid, as was the breaking, but what really made me smile was the power, even at 50 mph when I goosed the throttle it still pulled me back in the seat. When I got on the freeway I was up to 90 mph without blinking an eye and it didn't even feel like I was going 70 mph. Heck I didn't even know I was going 90 until I looked down at the speedo.
Is that what it is like when you do Stage II upgrade? I was kind of on the fence with that but after riding 110, if that is what I can expect, I'm sold.
I have the 2007 FXDSE, after riding it for about 500 miles, I started thinking it was slow, I guess you get use to the speed and accelaration, so I added Cobra pipes, heavey breather, fuel processor, changed cams, and other smaller things, now I am use to it again, looking for more, I figure you aint ever got enough. I usually cruise at 60-65mph, but its nice to know that when that jackass in his 5.0 pulls up beside you and guns it that you can smoke his **** if you want to.
Yup, that's the bike, only the one I tried had the orange paint scheme.
I usually cruise at about 70 on the highway here [285 - north loop], but have to say that 70 on that SE actually seemed slower.
All I know is it is supposed to be about 70 tomorrow so will be out enjoying it.
Not saying I want to go with a 110 (don't) and not looking for a rocket either, but for me 70 -75 seems an easy ride, just seems like I have to push it a little when I go above that and where I am at now even when you are going 80 you are not the fastest thing on the road (so sometimes you need to move a bit faster so you don't get run over); heck even the cops drive 80 around here. It just seemed like when i was riding the SE at 90 it was like riding mine at 70 (not saying I want to do that either). Don't know really how to explain it... guess I'm thinking it would be easier and maybe safer to ride a bike at 70 when it is closer to the bottom of the power band rather then near the top (and why I would consider the 103" Stage II upgrade)
And then again, maybe I am just missing the boat entirely... Hell I love my SB it is a hell of a bike, just seems like it is always almost there...
You've got the "torque bug" and nothing short of a stage II or III upgrade is going to quench your thirst.
The CVO 110 is a great platform and well worth the money it costs just in resale value alone but, you can get more power out of your 88"/96" with a big bore, cams, and headwork. While the 110" has much more power than the stocker, it is also way under-tuned simply to meet EPA regs.
Just start shopping for parts and in no time you'll be a member of the 100/100 club and the only thing that'll hide that big grin on your face is the bugs filling your teeth!

Yup. Johnnie Rouse took is 2007 CVO Dyna to the Texas Mile last year and did 153 mph. He's tweaked the SE 110" motor up to over 150 HP at the rear wheel.

Sniper, you're right... I had other plans for mods, but decided to wait on them and going for the stage II upgrade. Should find out if all the parts are in on Tuesday. Then just have to get them installed. Can't wait, and hope that smile comes back when it's all done.
