Default alternate tach mounting ideas?

I'd like to add a tach to my bike but I really don't wanna clutter up the bars with another gauge. I'm thinking maybe mounting one to the frame up close to the neck or possibly a rocker box bracket? Anyone done it or know of someone that has? I'd really like to see a pic.

This was my original solution. It was a Drag Specialties mini-tach. Instead of using the clamp that came with it, I just bent the bracket a little bit and mounted it to one of the handlebar clamp bolts. The way it angled itself, the needle pointed straight up at the redline (5500rpm).

That was then, this is now. I got rid of the mini-tach and got one of these. I wish I had done it to begin with... I love this thing, it works great:

I've considered the combo gauge as a solution... but the ones I've looked at seem a little pricey to me. I was in the shop working on my home made laydown bracket and got to thinking, what about the fuel gauge? I'll have to take the console off and get some measurements but I bet that a mini tach would fit right where the fuel gauge is. My bike's got a trip meter and a low fuel light so deleting the fuel gauge doesn't really seem like it would be an issue. When the trip gets around 160 miles I start looking for a gas station anyways. Anyone try this??

I would think the tach would be pretty useless mounted where your fuel gauge is because it's so low on the tank. As it is now, when wearing a full face helmet I have to bend my head down to see the speedometer and looking even further to see the tach would just be too much time with my eyes off the road.

There are some units that mount on the stem nut that might be something you'd like....

Theres a cool vid on youtube of the speedo/tach combo. Looks pretty neat. Not to sure how I would feel having it mounted to my bar bracket it looks weird.

Decided to search it out to make it easy.

If you look at the related vids on the side you'll see a couple others.

THE smallest, so visibility isn't its greatest virtue. Choice of black or chrome; read installation instructions for other mounting options:

eh, looks like the only real practical solution is the combo speedo/tach. I don't wanna have to look down or away to see what rpms i'm pulling and I don't wanna clutter anything up by mounting a tiny tachometer someplace obscure. Sniper's suggestion has my interest, but then again for almost 2 skins just for the bracket I could go ahead and get the combo.

The micro tach by speedway instruments is great. Smal but bright, super easy to install, works great and reasonably inexpensive. Really like mine.

I also went with the microtach. Inexpensive, doesn't stick out like a sore thumb, and works great - very readable. I mounted mine on the brake resevoir like in their video.
