Gotta hand it to ya sniper, I come from a very knowledgable familly in building performance engines, and it's all I've ever been interested in besides pu***. Have done many chevy builds, but have been more into harley builds the last few years. Good job of explaining the wrong in a build without lookin like an a**hole. You get thanks, I get people gettin butt hurt at me! Lol You know what really sucks is 9 out of 10 wrong "doggish" builds are reccomended by harley techs, pisses me off!

Thanks Chad, I went to the local shop today to ask about the SE compensator, the Timken bearing, a new rotor for my alternator, adj. pushrods or perfect fit, etc., and all I could do was walk away because this shop has never seen a crank scissor on a twin cam... ..never seen the new compensator until I showed it them in the catalog but they did say they could get me a new rotor for my alternator under warranty if I paid them to do the next scheduled service.......

...Let's see, a new rotor is $150 plus a primary gasket if I buy it and put it on and changing out the oil in all three holes runs about $65 in parts.............yeah, I'll pay them $400 for a scheduled maintenace just to get a warranty repair/replacement

Sniper, what that shop wants to do sounds a little bit dirty.

Nice post Sniper!!! I'd agree totally. Mike, I'd say the 585 would have perfect for your build here. Way to much duration at 260+. Gonna kill the low end torque and move everything to the right on the dyno graph. That cam won't start coming on until 3k or so. And with that much lift, I hope you went with roller rockers too.

It sounds worse than it is; in the course of doing the 20K service they will open the primary and "inspect" the alternator. Upon finding the bolts loose (mine's an '06 remember and they have a rotor that is bolted instead of welded like yours) they will replace it under warranty.
It's all legit but, I wanted them to just pop the primary and replace the rotor before it grenades. While they were replacing the rotor, I would pay the difference for the SEcompensator which has the rotor as an integral part, and my cost for the upgrade might have been only the difference in cost of a standard rotor and the SE compensator, i.e. about $100 plus $50 for the warranty.

The problem with my proposition was that there is no real early warning about the alternator rotor grenading so they couldn't justify inspecting it unless I was paying them for a routine service.

It's all good though, I read a fella posting that some dealer in florida is selling @ 20% off w/free shipping and you can bet I'll get that new compensator/rotor to my door for about $200 which is mighty sweet.

Right on Mike. I bet that cam will make power to 7-8K RPMs (not exactly where a H-D is comfortable) but with the overlap and duration it can't come on strong off the bottom.

I think Formike will be happy with his build for a long time and knowing he has more power on the table waiting for him to pull the trigger, he can smile for years to come.

sniper- you seem to have your head together much better than any tech I have dealt with. What is your opinion on the andrews 55H for my 09 SG? (motor specs are in sig)
55H andrews states power 2200-6200 .550 lift, duration 250. I know 6200 is a bit much but what options do I have.
