I wanted drag bars when I bought my FXDF, but Im seriously on the market to change em. Granted, they are fine if you are really hookin it. But, Im 6'2" and I have to bend down to much and it is aggrivating on longer rides. This is the first bike I've really put miles on with drag bars. Guess you live and learn
Well COOL is ALWAYS a matter of opinion. Personally I think some bike look cool with apes and some don't. For example Dynas tend to look cool with apes but IMO I think baggers look silly with apes and I think a bike with apes and a windshield looks silly too. But again ... it's just my opinion. Your opinion may differ from mine 100% and your opinion is just as right (or wrong) as mine. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

I have apes, and a windshield. I looked sillier when I had frozen tears on my pink cheeks after 10 km ride to work!
I like my ride without the W/S but there is a time and place, and having the option is nice, with any bike.
but on the apehanger question...
I like mine. Very easy on the neck!
when I was younger was able to ride anything for any amount of time. got a 2008 lowrider last year was only able to go a couple of hours changed bars to 8 1/2" baby apes worked great now i put 10 1/2" minis and work even better NO PAIN NO TIME.
The main problem is most people don't know how to ride with Apes. People get ont he bike lock they're shoulders out and try and muscle the bike around all the time. You need to set them up correctly so your shoulders droop a little and your using your pull up muscles to hold you arms up. I frequently ride 400 miles plus on mine with no issues and I have 18"s and a badlander.

I experimented with them. If they are not over your shoulders I think they are confortable. They increase leverage for smaller riders. They are easy to adjust forward or back a little if you have back problems.
The downside is, if you are riding in high wind or rain, you can't really squat down. I decided on lowrider bars with pullback risers. I hate ramhorns, too narrow, wrong wrist angle. Dragbars reduce leverage in high wind. I've tried 9 different kinds of bars on my bike...
It's one of the big factors that drew me to the look of the bike and I love the way it fits on the ride. Different strokes. Some people think the Apes look cool, but I think they just look wretched.
Honestly I think the whole Fat Bob is wretched worst thing to come outof the MOCO in 30 years perhaps. But again back to to each they're own
