are the guys who rolled carb and now run injectors happy or sad ?
I know the Guy that works on all the Pittsburgh Cop "road kings" says injection is the worst thing ever, those bikes see 30 thousand + miles a year, and he says there were less problems, and easier fixes in the carb days....
me myself, i couldnt be happier ridin carbed...I can get her home if she starts spittin and coughin, but you blow an injector your F-ed..
LOVE my 06 carb 07 sb fuel injection works good but I think the Fuel injection is a money pit to do anything to a stock bike sh*** for a really good fuel managment system it can run 300 plus to me that just dont make it worth while for just pipe and ac but hey thats just what I think
Couldn't be happier with my Street Bob which is the first fuel injected bike I've ever owned. The carb won't be missed. The fuel management (PC III) was a little expensive but easy as hell to mess with and tune.
This is my first Harley but I have had plenty of carbed bikes and 4 wheelers in the past. I now have a FI Harley and have had FI quads and wouldnt own anything else. The intial cost of a programmer does suck but the ease of doing mods after that makes up for it.
Plus, I have heard the EFI's sound a bit different? Not sure if this is just a rumor or not...
Funny you should mention the bit about sounding differently. I've gone off on this rant numerous times through this hallowed forum board. In stock form my 22hp V-Twin lawnmower has a better rumble to it than my '07 SB did. Tends to be a bit embarrassing when all my buds on carbed bikes fire up outside a tavern, scooters making that old Harley loping sound that has become an American icon while mine sounds like its revving to 3 grand. Catch plenty of flak over that.
First injected bike, my neighbors are happy that I dont have to run it for 15 minutes in the driveway every morning at 7:30 AM. Now I just start it and go.
When the motors warm it sounds the same, only at startup it runs high idle.
I prefer injection if the injection is set up properly. I had a carbed FZ1 that was awesome, and an injected V-Strom that was terrible. So far my Dyna, with stock injection has been great. Love the start-up-and-go.
Plus, I have heard the EFI's sound a bit different? Not sure if this is just a rumor or not...
oh yes yes it is defferant the old carb'd sound much better where the newer FI bikes have a higher idle not the same "sickness" i must say of my fathers old FLH super G i'll never forget the sound!.
