what can cause a low idle?

what can cause a low idle?
ok where to start? normally my bike will start up and idle normal. now heres where im noticing a low idle. say im at freeway speeds and im exiting on an off ramp. as im slowing down and downshifting to a stop i can hear and feel my bike idle real slow and the exhaust will be very quiet..i almost feel like the bike is gonna die on me but if i sat there a minute the idle will slowly climb back to its normal idle. has anyone ever experienced this. is it an oil pump? i changed all the fluids and air filter 2 days ago and its still doing this...but its not all the time that it does it! thats what i dont understand.

Couple of things to look at:
1. IAC valve & sensor (idle air control)
2. Engine temp sensor
3. fuel pump pressure
What are you doing with the clutch when this happens?
Did it happen before you changed the oil?

yes it did this before i changed the oil....when this happens its when the clutch is disengaged but as soon as i release the clutch and give it gas its like its normal...so idk what it is?

Your engine is going to fall down to idle when you pull the clutch while decelerating which is normal. If it falls way down to almost stall I would try this: Get a can of throttle body spray cleaner that will not harm sensors or electronics (make sure of that) and clean you IAC valve & sensor and see if that changes it. It may just be dirty. Clean the TB as well while you are there.

Heres something i noticed when i changed the air filter. It had a lot of oil in it from the blowback...also i looked inside the throttle body and there is a film from the oil all over it. I wiped it down but i didnt spray anything in it to clean it

i have a 04 lowrider fi and i have been havin this exact same problem so i thought it seem to be running rich however the plugs dont show that also if at an idle and i burp the throttle i will get a puff of black smoke. I installed the V&H fuelpak yesterday and still have the problem. and same as you inside of my TB covered with black tar lookin build up... someone please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
