I'll be doing my 1,000 and all other maintenance. Just keep receipts. Plan to buy the belt checker and maintenance manual and already have cable lubber etc. and can't see paying someone to do what I can do. My time is free.
Why wait for the 1K to change your oil? I changed my engine oil and filter at 500.
I won't buy the oil from the MoCo, it's made by Citgo and aside from that I think the Syn3 is crap. I changed my engine oil over to Mobil v-twin synthetic about 300 miles after my 1K service, tranny to Redline HD shockproof and primary just plain old dino.
I had the local dealer do the synthetic 1K, for about 240. After Stg.1 remap and taxes all came to about 450, which I told them was crap. I have my manuals and tools.... it will have to be a major event for me to take the bike back.
To the OP - Check the primary, sounds similar to the problem I had where the dealer forgot to put oil in the primary, though mine did not have a starting problem.
Picked the bike up today, seems great-no primary/clutch noise, no vibes at 2100-2200rpm's, no starting issues.
I had the factory download done while it was in. I had already put the SE slip-ons on and had the heavy breather at home to install. Definite seat-o-the-pants boost and even more when I put the heavy breather on. You can sure tell the difference if you put the rain sock on. I did notice that red-line is still at 5K. My Sporty download raised the rev-limiter to 6500.
Does anyone know what rpm's the 96" should run at after the download?
BTW the heavy breather lets my leg tuck under the snorkel so my right foot is not ****-eyed on the forward controls (and it looks cool); the SE slip-ons are definitely louder than stock, but not as loud as my buddy's 1.75" Rush's. Suits me to a T.
