Popping on deceleration?

Popping on deceleration?
I finally was able to take the new SB out for a ride Saturday. It rode real well, except for a lot of "popping" in the exhaust when letting off the throttle.
When I picked up the bike at the dealer, the mechanic said I might get popping since the gas has stabilizer in it, and that after a couple of fill-ups this wold go away.
Is this accurate? Or does the popping point to a problem I should deal with?
As I said, the acceleration was good and smooth, good power at all speeds and gears. The bike has V&N BigRadius pipes and a Stage 1 SE air cleaner upgrade, and they told me is was appropriately re-programmed.
