Default Wheel question

I am considering changing out my spoked rims for custom chromed ones, but it is a bit expensive to change out both at the same time. I was wondering if there was any issue with running a chrome non-tubed wheel-tire combo up front with the stock spoked-tubed wheel-tire combo on the rear. Both tires would be bias belted. I talked with the place I was going to get the wheel from and they said they didn't think there would be a problem but I wanted to check with some smarter folks before I moved on it.

Hey, thanks.

Kinda thought I wouldn't, but feel a lot better getting a thumbs up from the smarter people here.

Thanks again

The night train comes with a tube in the front and a non tube in the rear . If your new rims are not spoke you can still run your tires with a tube. So if your tires are in good shape just buy rims.

Hey Red, thanks. Didn't realize that, actually I am moving up to a 21" front tire (from a 19) so will have to get the whole setup.

Just didn't want to sit with the new tire staring at me in the garage waiting for me to get enough pennies together to get the rear done. I know it will look kind of weird and I will probably get asked a bunch of questions... will probably get me buying the rear one before I can really afford it too, but hey what are friends for if not to help you spend your money

Are you gonna run a chrome rim up front and the stock spoke out back? I'm **** about having things match and that would drive me crazy! But I understand with the way everything is, why not wait until you have everything you need and do it all at once? What kind of rims are you looking at? When I did mine, that made the biggest difference in appearance and would recommend it! Sorry for the ?'s

I agree with Red_Devil about being **** on such things. But you gotta do what you gotta do. If it were me, I'd wait til I had the set and install them both at the same time. Or, I'd probably at least want the new wheel in the back first kind of like running a deuce wheel in the rear with spokes up front like some do.

There was no way I was ever going to commit the funds needed to put decent looking chrome wheels on my bike. I just couldn't justify it even if I had it. So I bought a set of used FXD mags and sent them off to be chromed. Well under $1000 for the whole thing when all is said and done. Still waiting for them to come back from the chromer though.

well it is easy to justify anything really. I started out looking to put a 21" on the front and was looking to relace a 21" myself, but I like the chrome wheel look too, figured if I sold my laced rim and was able to offset the cost of the front wheel, then it wouldn't cost me but maybe $1G for the front. Then I would have to get a new rim for the rear to get the tire I was looking for since Harley is the only one that makes their rear rims at 17". But for now the rear is covered with all sorts of stuff so not as visible as the front.

Like I said you can justify most anything (well I find I can... regarding my bike).

I find I can justify most anything to other people if I've made up my own mind that it's jusifiable. But in my own mind, I can't justify 2 grand or more for 2 wheels on a bike, especially with all the money I've put in the bike already that I'll never get back. I also can't justify the cost of the motor work needed to make it go any faster than it already does - but that's just me.

It's especially hard to justify when I know I can get these for a net total of $650.
