Did anybody notice this dude has made two posts? First on 5/12/08 to say he passed the rider class, might be buying a bike. Now to say his bike was stolen.
Since they stole your first one they'll likely steal your second one too. I would, at least, move before replacing it. Parking outside is rough though, particularly if you aren't riding it everyday. You, at least, need the siren and pager. A cover is good, particularly one you can lock. You would be surprised how readily you might dismiss a thief setting on your bike, but you won't do so quite so readily if they cut the cover off your bike to do so.
Woke up Saturday morning to ride my 08 bob in the beautiful weather only to find an empty parking spot. Needless to say I started cursing at everyone and anything within earshot. I was having new exhaust/stage 1 installed next weekend too. Police were sympathetic but basically told me not to keep my hopes up of retrieval. Not a big fan of the 09 street bobs so it looks like Im SOL unless I go used. Sooooo pissed off. Thanks for listening, just had to vent.
What did they change from '08 to '09 on the Street Bob? I just bought my first Hawg -- an '09 vivid black Bob. The dealership wanted to charge me for the security system, which I did not want (so I didn't pay for it). It doesn't have the optional siren, so I doubt if a thief would mind the flashing lights. Anyway, so sorry to hear about your stolen scoot.
What a crappy feeling!
Had a Honda stolen in Riverside, CA in 1981, still sometimes look back and get pissed.
Recently read somewhere that they use four guys and two pieces of pipe stuck between the spokes, lift and load in secs, don't matter if forks are locked or sirens blaring, they are gone in less than one minute.
I am currently reading "under and alone". The mongels take only seconds to steal bikes. In the book, the bikes are only srtipped enough to change serial numbers, they know what they are doing.
Ours are chained in a locked enclosed carport.
Sorry for your loss!
Hope you have insurance!
man that sucks, find somewhere more secure for you next one, move the missus or kids out to the street instead... only jokin man !! hope it all works out 4 u
Sorry for the loss, I have had the same feeling also. It cost me the deduct back then and got a new bike. It didn't have 1000k on it. The economy in the shape its in more stories like this will be posted .
