Sorry about your ride, just watched the gone in 60 seconds bike rip-off video. That is totally crazy. Have to chain it to a parking meter, bolt cutter would take care of that I suppose.
I agree with the poster about the lifting into the pick-up. I had my 1st love (67 Tiger) stolen back in 1974 and am STILL pissed. INVEST IN TOP OF THE LINE CHAIN AND LOCK ! Chain it to something cemented to the ground. Good luck with the ins. co. Let us know the co. and what they did for you.
Thanks for all your support guys/gals! Here is a little more info. It was stolen from an apartment parking lot in Alexandria, Va. No covered or seperate parking available for the bike. Nothing really to chain to. Its for this reason I actually had Lojack installed when I bought it. Supposedly the police activate the Lojack and can be able to locate it within minutes. Despite my calls/messages to the Alex. PD I cant get any more info on whether or not the Lojack was ever actually activated. The people at Lojack have been absolutely no help whatsoever. When I get a new bike, I am definitely not keeping it in my parking lot. Its going in a friends garage whether they like it or not!
Also...although I've only posted twice I have been frequenting these boards for tips/advice. Before I bought my bob, I didnt really know anything about motorcycles. Thanks to you people I am way more informed than I was one year ago and cant imagine not riding!!
Zepkas in Johnstown, Pa. has a Vivid Black '08 left...
Cerini's in Belle Vernon has a red denim left that he will deal on...a frien got $1500 off on a black one last fall, and i know they will do better to get rid of that one...
I read about it in some magazine. Supposedly you can track the device in real time. You just have to make sure you can find a good hiding spot to put it in.
I don't have it myself, but it looks like a useful thing to have should I start to feel more paranoid for my bike.
Woke up Saturday morning to ride my 08 bob in the beautiful weather only to find an empty parking spot. Needless to say I started cursing at everyone and anything within earshot. I was having new exhaust/stage 1 installed next weekend too. Police were sympathetic but basically told me not to keep my hopes up of retrieval. Not a big fan of the 09 street bobs so it looks like Im SOL unless I go used. Sooooo pissed off. Thanks for listening, just had to vent.
Just curious, what kind of security did you have on it? Did you have it locked with Kryptonite lock or anything? My first bike, a 1970 Yamaha was stolen..I feel your pain!
