Default Who does the "best" head work???

Now that everyone has convinced me to get my heads worked over instead of buying new who does the best work?

Ive looked at big boyz , hillside, and R&R cycles, Any others that people recommend???

R&R is def. the most expensive, but looks like they do good work.

Jay Riddle racing in Bloominton IL did mine. They have a decent website. http://www.jayriddleracing.com/ They can match you up with the pistons and such for a good package.

I think big boyz is the most cost effective way to go. On the other hand if you are going big inches Dave Mackie is the guy. JMO

Where do you live? If you have someone good close by you might just want to use them even if everyone raves about someone else. As much as we appreciate vendors on here, we also need to think about our local economies.

I've got Branch heads on my dyna, and Ironhead Tom ported heads on the sporty. The Branch heads were about $900 on exchange. I've never used anybody else on a Twin Cam, so I couldn't compare, but I like them.

The aforementioned are all good, I'm sure; I've had HeadQuarters do 4 sets for me over the years and they are up there quality wise, too. Remember, getting the heads done is part of a total package including cams and compression, so talk to whomever you choose and let them know what you want and they'll tell you how to best achieve your goals with their stuff.....

One minor thing I've noted, some may try to "upsell" you on a carb or pipes; make sure you know why you need which component; ie Branch (who at the time was owned by Mikuni) tried to tell me that their work would be a waste of time and money if I didn't go with a Mikuni carb. I went with a 44CV (1200 Sportster) and got 100hp/88ft lbs with HQ stuff. HQ claimed I needed no more than a re-jetted 40CV. Another outfit told me the only way to go was with a Davinci S&S carb. My local mechanic likens S&S carbs to be one step up from a gas soaked rag. Also, if the base circle of the cams is the same you shouldn't need adjustable pushrods; you may ask them about that as well. I used SE perfect fit pushrods in my 111/117 103inch by HQ.

As mentioned 90% of the head guys mentioned on this forum are worth going with, ya just need to know what ya want out of the build, then call these guys & speak with them. Like Sharkey said some will push certain things to go with your build & their heads, some suggestions are BS, but some know very well the cam characteristics of certain cams & are very knowledgable for settin your heads up with those cams. Just ask the same questions to all of em & compare, you'll make the right choice after calling a few of em!

I opted for Baisley. Hopefully, I'll let you know how they turned out by the weekend!

cj, there are more than a few good sources for heads.

I always look at a complete package that is designed to do what I want.

heads, cams, pistons/compression, exhaust, (and related)

My 006 88" motor is on the second HeadQuarters package.

The 95" was great, no doubt about it.

I went to 120 inches now, and again the HeadQuarters components are hard to beat.
