Any good thief should know how to override an alarm system. The point of security measures is to make them steal the other guys' bike not yours. So make it as tough as possible. I don't have a garage but when mine is outside (I have a large storage shed but it's up on a hill and when it rains..well you get the picture) I have an in ground mounted (in 8 inches of concrete a Kryptonite hook attached to Kryptonite New York forgetaboutit chain and lock. It's right next to my house. Any competent thief given the right amount of time and availability will take your bike. You have to lessen the odds of that happening. Oh, and I have a Smith & Wesson .357 Magnum, a Remington 12 Guage loaded with 00 buckshot and my wife has a 9mm S&W M&P...and she's a better shot than I am.

my siren came from a buddy that owns a custom car audio place... i have no idea what it was from... it is about the size of a shot glass and SCREAMS!!! I am supposed to have a few beers with him this weekend ill ask him
how hard is it to hook in the "factory HD security" ? My bike did not come with it but I have always thought about getting one...
The newer thing (with the buttonless keyfobs) requires a trip to the dealership to get the keyfobs married to the system, but from what I understand the physical install of it isn't all that difficult - but getting everything running together requires a VERY finicky procedure that you can do over the course of a half-hour (if you're lucky) or your dealer can do in about a minute.
You might look at a Digital Guard Dawg system, which isn't quite as expensive and takes just a few minutes to install and does pretty much the same thing as the factory security system. I've always wondered if you could use both at the same time.
About 40 years ago a police officer I played handball with put it in perspective. He told me that the only thing a lock was good for was to keep an honest person honest. Keep it out of sight if possible, if you feel like you need more than your security system than a chain a good lock and a big gun Then again you could just bring it in the house

How hard is it to dismantle the fork lock? Obviously two bigger guys could pick up the bike and throw it in the back of a truck and drive off with it. Then when they get home they will have to deal with the fork lock. I know it's not full proof but it does slow the weaker minds. Anyone have any thoughts on the fork lock?

I think you could use both, but I suspect the number of folks who have one and are willing to buy the other is pretty small.
All I can speak on is the Digital Guard Dawg, which replaces the starter relay. It doesn't look like the factory security system does that, so I think it might work.
Of course, you're also adding one more layer of complication to the system.
