Real basic question, that confirms me as an idiot.

When I installed my new headbolt covers on my 09 FXDF, I found that the factory wired the front spark plug wire directly across the motor.
Directions that came with headbolts, say to wire them above the horn attachment bolt. Just FYI might want to check spark plug wiring for others, would have never noticed factory error......
Theres two other ways that you can secure the wire. You can re use the original tie wrap head that is plugged into the bracket, just cut off the pig tail, get a regular tie wrap and put it on the wire, snug it up then feed the pig tail through the original tie wrap head that is plugged into the bracket.
The other way would be, remove the original plugged in tie wraps, get a regular tie wrap and put it on the wire, snug it up then feed the pig tail through the bracket hole, get another tie wrap and cut the pig tail off so you just have the head of the tie wrap, put that on the pig tail of the tie wrap that you put through the hole (see below).

i got the orange ones, look good on the black denim fxdf, and i was going to ziptie them, but they are so thick ya really dont have to, the are not as floppy as the stock ones
I am replacing my stock spark plug wires with the red screaming eagle wires. Here is my question...
Is there any way to undo the two clips on the top of the long wire (just above the horn) without destroying them, or should I just go conan the barbarian on them and go pick up some new plug/zipties from Harley?
This is for the 09 fxdf if that really makes a difference, although I don't think it does.
You can also use an xacto blade to move the locking key away from the teeth in the pig tail, then you can push or pull the pig tail out and reuse the originals.
