Default Question about the kickstand mod??

What do you do with the bare metal that you have exposed when you grind on the kickstand and frame? Do you have to worry about it rusting or anything? We live in Iowa, so we deal with a lot of sand and junk on the roads.

Just lowered the wife's dyna, she rode it this weekend for the first time!! 412 Progressive 11" chrome shocks and drop in progressive kit.

I think I am going to have a hard time keeping up with her this summer!! What was I thinking?!?

OH, photo is before the front lowering. Thought we would try just the rear, but didn't like the feel. I would highly recommend the drop in lowering kit. Much cheaper than paying the stealer, and easy to do.

Bike looks great. You probably can't really clear the exposed metal as once the bike leans on the stand, it will scrape off. I would think that all you will develop is some surface rust which can be cleaned with brake cleaner or just sanded with sandpaper when the bike is washed. I doubt it will harm much of anything. Another thought is to use some clear plastic protector tape on the edge. I think 3M makes a product. It's the stuff used on some cars around the wheel well to avoid rocks from dinging the paint. People on here have used the tape on their fenders to protect from scratching the fender with their pillion seat.

Just dab a little paint on those 2 places. Who is going to crawl under her bike and look? I used model paint and a tiny brush. No rust yet and I live in the PacNW. Its snowing as I type this!

I chopped off some parts from my frame (including kickstand mod) and use this great product, Hamerite color on the frame, you can even paint directly on rust and it matches the framecolor great.
