Mine arrived today. Didn't have a lot of time, but i was able to remove the heat shields and take the stock baffles out. Only took about 10 minutes. Whew.... Left the pipes attached to the bike. Did like i read on here, just took the screw out that held the stock baffles in place and threaded it in from the inside of the pipe a little bit. Used some channel locks to grab the bolt and pulled the baffles right out. no sweat. The top one took a very slight tug. The bottom one came out with just using my fingers to pull.

Rfranz - Didn't have time to mount the BCT's in today. Maybe tomorrow. I was reading over all the paperwork that came with them and there was a special paper for Radius pipes. It said to mount between 5-6" from the end of the pipe. It said that anything less will likely result in a loss of performance and sound. So i'm gonna drill out a new hole to mount them as suggested. I guess i'll leave the stock hole open rather than putting the stock screw back in. Not sure which is the lesser of the evils.

Can't wait to fire it up and see how they are!! Weather is supposed to be nice on Friday, so hopefully tomorrow night i'll get it ready to ride. Hopefully the neighbors won't get to mad when i leave a 6 am.

I left my stock hole open, wow that sounds strangely dirty....

The five to six inches from the end of the pipe is fairly important, one of the guys at my stealer knows a bunch of people running BCTs and said that if they aren't dialed in they don't really work.

I followed the directions and they work like a charm and sound awesome.

Got 'em mounted this morning before work. I mounted the bottom one at 6" and the top one at 5 1/2" (to miss the heat shield clamp). I was a little worried about how the heat shields would fit since i was drilling into the pipes on the outside (since i didn't take the pipes off). I put the heat shields on without an issue. Didn't have a chance to fire it up yet.

If there's anyone out there considering doing this but is hesitant to install yourself, just do it. It is easy. I am far from being a wrench and i completed the entire install in around 1/2 hour taking my sweet time. Couldn't believe how easy the stock baffles came out based on what i've read here. Guess changing them out with such low mileage on the pipes must have helped.

I just ordered a set yesterday after reading this thread. I can't wait to get them installed and see what kind of difference they make.

After 4 hours of hammering, pulling, heating up, and cussing I finally gave up on getting the stock baffles out of my Big Radius pipes. I tried putting the bolt on the inside and using vise grips to pull them out but the bolt and nut broke off. So the top baffle doesn't have a bolt holding it in. It's so tight, I don't believe it will come out.

I really wanted to put these in but I don't think it's going to happen. Hopefully BCT will refund the baffles.

For what it's worth, many years ago when I was 18, I used to work in the Sears garage. One of my jobs was installing exhaust systems.

We had a variety of specialized air chisels. Ones to split an outer pipe and save the inner... as well as peel out an inner pipe, saving the outer.

You could remove your heat shields and take your bike to a custom muffer shop and see if they could help you. It's unlikely they will be able to peel out that entire baffle because it's some 10" long. But perhaps they can peel up a nice sized "ear" that you can grab with some specialized vise grips.
Plus, with the shields off, they can take a torch to lightly heat up the outer pipe around the baffle that may be enough to get it out.

Might be ugly if while going down the road that thing decides it's time to come out on it's own.

I rode it around for a couple of hours tonight and checked when I got home. It still hasn't moved; however, I fiqure it shoot out when I'm a couple hundred miles away from home.

A slide hammer should do the job. Chances are you probably don't have one. Maybe you have the materials to fab up one? The easiest thing, is probably taking the pipe to an exhaust shop. I'm sure they can get it out. Probably for cheap, maybe even for free, ya never know. Sorry though, bct has a "no returns" policy.

I thought about buying a slide hammer for the job but I'm a little afraid that I will damage the internals of the baffle and still not get it out.

Has anyone seen one used for something like to this?
