BCT is a good product and sounds great. From everything I have heard, they are effective at eliminating the torque dip on drag pipes and increasing HP.

When I had them on my SEII's though, they actually created a minor dip (3-4 lbs) in the torque curve at about 3,000 rpm, but increased total HP (@ 6,000) by 3-4 HP.

The thing that has caught my interest is "baffle placement" in the pipes.

Has anyone played around with them and run the baffles in the original mount holes and then moved them deeper into the pipe?
I'm really curious of the sound difference.
Anyone?

Btw, brown just delivered the V&H BR to my door.

Allright, all this positive feedback on the BCT's has really got me thinking about picking a set up. I like the sound of my VH BR's, but a little deeper of a tone would be nice. A few questions to those that have done it:

1) My pipes only have 100 +/- miles on them. Will this make it easier to remove the stock baffles? I hear a lot of people have trouble with the top baffle.

2) Removing the heat shields (dealer installed), do you just have to loosen the clamps and slide heat shields off, or is there something more? I loosened them this morning and the shields slid an inch or so, but then wouldn't slide any more. I didn't tug too hard in case there was something i was missing. Do you have to remove the clamps entirely?

3) As far as placing the BCT baffles, are you guys just placing them at the end of the pipe (not the 6" that BCT recommends)? Or if you are setting further back, are you plugging the hole from the stock baffles? I read on one post here a guy said you actually have to go 6 1/2 inches back to miss the heat shield clamp.

Overall, it sounds like this isn't the hardest thing to do, but then again, i'm far from being a wrench.

Thanks!

I believe you have to undo the front clamps and pull the heatshield off. I've heard that removing baffles is a real pain in the ***. Try freezing then heating them. I'm thinkin about trying the QQ baffles myself.

I took the pipes off of the bike to make life easier. Just remember to replace the exhaust gasket when you are reinstalling.

I placed my baffles 6" in and ran the clamp over the bolt, Almost as good as loctite

Dude, quit wasting time and just get these baffles. You will get a nasty, low, deep idle and your 6th gear will suddenly be usable. You will LOVE the sound over the stock BR baffles.

I do not think the pipes being new will help much on getting the baffle out. There are a few tips that were posted on here but I wouldn't bother removing the pipes and putting them in a freezer or anything that time consuming. Joe's idea was great, he just drilled a small hole and I think screwed in a small screw and then got it out with a slide hammer? (I think) and another guy posted how to yank it out with a socket on a small cable, all kinds of great ideas and it's not THAT tight, just tight enough you can't do it by hand.

On the heat shields, the clamps toward the exit end of the pipe, loosen those generously. The clamps toward the front of the pipes, completely separate those, you have to pull them all the way apart since the clamp cannot slide past the brackets. Pull the front half straight off the side and slide the rear half off.

On placement, who knows, maybe I am missing out on some performance but I put mine right in the stock location and they are great. Don't let placement stop you from getting them. If nothing else just use stock location like I did and worry about where to put them later.

You can have them installed in less than 20 minutes too, guaranteed.

I was able to get mine 6" deep (that was as far as I could get them). If you read earlier in this thread you will see what I did, with a pic showing. Also, the instructions say you can install them deeper into the pipe if you like. The stock hole on the sideshots is about 1", well below the 3" min.

I put the quiet ones in my short shots and like them alot. They are deeper at idle but almost just as loud as the stock short shots ones. Cruisin i would say they are a bit quieter which is what i wanted cause some towns around here stuck about loud pipes

Welp, I pulled the trigger on a set (part no. 2002). I messed around a little today and figured how to get the heat shields off. I've bookmarked all the threads giving tips/tricks on removing the top baffle. Hope to have them installed this week.

Hope they are as good as everyone is saying

Has anyone seen a decrease in power after installing these in the Big Radius. I've read that some people has had problems with losing mid-range power.

I'm planning on installing these this weekend but wanted some input on performance.

Thanks
