So last Friday I decided to up grade from my 08' nightster to a brand new 09 Street Bob. Went to pick it up on Monday along with ordering some aftermarket parts. The dealer didn't have all the parts in stock so I decided that I will pick them up later in the week when they come in. Got on the Street Bob and drove off. Made it a half mile down the road when all the warning lights came on and the speed do went to to 0 mph while doing 30. Bike wqas running fine at this time. Turned around and went back to the dealer. They tried to fix it several times but every time it did the same and began to run rough. So after being there for six hour with an hour drive back home I just wanted to leave. I signed a release form and drove home on my nightster with dealer tags. Called two days ago and service maanger said there must be a short some where in the wiring bundle. They agreed to replace the whole wiring bundle. So here I sit typing this and wanting to ride my new bike. This is not suppose to happen to a new bike. Would you guys have requested something different other than what I have done. They don't know when I will get it back, but all I care about is getting it done right and not at any cost to me.
sh*t happens. Unfortunately nothings perfect, not even harley. The dealer is atleast doing what they need to do to fix it. It was nice of them to let you ride your existing bike until they can get it fixed also. Although, an ETA would be nice.
wow man that really sucks, id almost want a whole new bike, sounds like a friday bike(lets get this thing done so we can go home). who knows what else got half a$$ed.
Wow, thats garbage... I'd demand them to give you a different street bob. There's no reason for that. Absolute crap.
+1 you are paying way to much for a new bike for it to start doing that. Especially when you are just leaving after taking delivery. Request a new bike, if they decide no to then tell them you will use the LEMON law and call a lawyer.
(Lemon Law, is when someone sold you a piece of Sh**t and you can get your money back)
I'd have them just get me another bike...even if i had to wait for it to come in. Just a bad omen to start off like that IMO. It's your money, you should get a new bike in working order because that's what you paid for. You're the customer, they need your business.

Yea, I'd probably be begging the dealer to swap out for a different new bike...redo the paperwork (vin number) and let them ship that bike back to moco.
Sh*t happens, but it shouldn't happen on a brand new bike.
That's what you get for calling it an upgrade.
Just kidding!
Sorry to hear about the problems. I don't know what state you're in, but I know someone in Cali made Harley take a bike with phantom electrical problems back due to the lemon law here. She ended up with a Deluxe Softail with few issues in the 20K miles she put on it in a year.
Unfortunately, things like that happen on a NEW bike. That's why they have a warranty. I wouldn't be happy either and it would try my patience, but you just have to suck it up and hope they diagnosed/repaired it correctly when you get it back.
Sounds like they don't know how to find a short, if that is what it is? Sounds lke bad ground to me? Did they do any mods for you prior to delivery, if so, they should start there. At minimum, I'd make them throw in an extended warranty plan for your hassle and discount the parts you ordered!
